.. Chairman - David Hylands

David was born in Eastbourne, Sussex and started singing at an early age encouraged by his mother. The church choir master stopped him singing when his voice broke giving him two years for his voice to settle, then dropped him in at the deep end with bass solos in the choirs production of The Crucifixion at Chichester Cathedral. In 1959 David joined the Metropolitan Police and in the spring of 1960 joined the Met Police Male Voice Choir. Leaving the choir to concentrate on marriage and career he spent many years on the amateur stage performing most of the bass baritone leads in the Gilbert and Sullivan operas and other standards of musical theatre. He rejoined the choir and sings with them and serves as vice chairman to this day. Moving out to Essex, David teamed up with the Essex Police Choir as a guest soloist. Retirement from the Police as a Garage Sergeant (claimed to be the best job in the service) saw David start his business as a Toastmaster and Singer joining the Essex Police Choir a couple of years ago. David in supported in his role as Chairman by a hard working committee.,
