Singing for good causes around Essex and beyond
Please read our new Privacy Policy regarding your rights under GDPR

The Essex Police Choir is a four part choir (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) with around 50 members and we perform 8 to 10 concerts a year for good causes and charities, mainly in Essex.
Since the Choir's formation in 1989 we have raised in excess of £300,000 for good causes and have probably helped more churches to instal disabled toilets than any other organisation in the County!
As well as performing to raise money for others we have two of our own concerts, the proceeds from which we donate to our annual charity that is chosen by the members and to whom we aim to give at least £2,000. These concerts are our Annual Concert in October (at St Luke's Church, Tiptree - see 'Concert Dates' tab above for details) and our Christmas Concert at Trinity Methodist Church, Chelmsford in December.
The Choir is totally self-funding, taking no money from the Police budget and so we rely on subscriptions, sales of CDs, donations and our 100 Club (see 'How You Can Help Us!' tab above).  Whilst we pride ourselves on our professionalism - we also have a lot of fun!
Next year will be our 30th Anniversary
See our 2018 Chosen Charity below and read through the following pages to learn more about the Choir.
Come along and see what we get up to!
We rehearse every Tuesday evening at Essex Police Headquarters from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, although we have a couple of weeks break in Summer and at Christmas
We are always on the look-out for new members and encourage anyone who can hold a tune (you don't have to read music or be a soloist to become a part of the Choir ) to visit us to experience the enjoyment that singing can bring to you.
Due to securtity, please give us a call to let us know which week you want to come.

Join the Choir about which the Musical Director of The Band of the Parachute Regiment recently said:
"Your ladies and gents are the most musically disciplined choir I think I’ve seen in my 20 years                 - and I’ve seen a few"

We joined the '2019 Club' created by our 2018 chosen charity, in order to raise £2,019 by March next year.  Secretly, we all knew that we would do this by Christmas - and more!
It gave us huge pleasure to present a cheque to Caroline Bates of the Cancer Centre Campaign at out Christmas Concert on Saturday 15th December.  But it wasn't quite what she expected as it was for a buimper £5,000!
With money raised from our Annual Concert at St Luke's Tiptree, the Christmas Concert and other money doanted from various concert organisers (and a bit that we had in the bank!) the Choir decided that this worthy charity should benefit from a larger donation than usual and from Caroline's face when Chairman Mark Lawrence announced the size of the gift, she wasn't expecting such a generous sum.
Caroline thanked the Choir and Jane Gardner, Deputy Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner had some complimentary words to say about the Choir and how we represent the Police service.
All in all, a great year and an excellent finish to it.  Now - to our 30th Anniversary year!
